A Different Kind of Run

Held again at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, this highly anticipated annual activity’s trademarks are two things: running in pairs and the big grocery lootbag at the end of the finish line.

Presented by Robinsons Supermarket and now on its 11th year, the Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run was a little different this year. Held again at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, this highly anticipated annual activity’s trademarks are two things: running in pairs and big grocery loot bags at the end of the finish line.

However, rain greeted participants at Camp Aguinaldo this year that disabled the timing mechanism of the run. Even with no time or kilometers to beat, majority still opted to get their exercise in and run or walk to the finish! Participants playfully braved the drizzle with their respective partners and experienced a runner’s treat—running in the rain. It became one wet but true fun run with race marshals and bands cheering the crowd along the route. And just like tradition, participants all got big loot bags at the end of the finish line.

The weather may have cancelled the official race but there was no shortage of good spirits among participants as they also enjoyed exciting activity booths and abundant freebies from over 40 sponsors including: Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth Nutrition, Abbott Nutrition, Fonterra, and Unilab. No rain could dampen the crowd’s energy as well-loved top coaches Jim and Toni Saret of the Fit Filipino Movement entertained everyone with their usual charm and fun exercises. Special guests like Jessy Mendiola, Drew Arellano, Mikael Daez, and national rugby team, the Philippine Volcanoes, shared their wellness tips.

“This year’s run may be a little different due to unforeseen circumstances. But, our commitment to continue to provide our customers opportunities to start their wellness journey with us remains strong,“ said Jody Gadia, General Manager of Robinsons Supermarket.

The buddy run is in line with Robinsons Supermarket’s commitment to continuously encourage more people to choose and live healthier lifestyles.
