Robinsons Supermarket Supports the Fit Filipino 1M Lbs Weight-Loss Challenge

Robinsons Supermarket is proud to support the Fit Filipino 1,000,000 lbs National Weight-Loss Challenge. Brainchild of premier wellness and lifestyle coaches, Jim and Toni Saret, the program aims to challenge the nation to fight the battle of the bulge this 2017.

FitFil is slated to be the biggest on-the-ground and online fitness campaign in the country. The program will run for 6 months and aims to encourage everyone to pledge and lose the pounds. Individual, squads, corporations, and even cities are encouraged to join and work together towards a healthier and fitter lifestyle.

 “We want Filipinos to see that getting fit and healthy can be easy and fun when you have the whole nation rallying together for this cause,” said Coach Jim Saret.

This was seconded by Coach Toni Saret. “Wellness starts with the little changes in our lifestyle choices. We can start with better eating habits or a simple 4-minute workout daily,” she added.

As the official supermarket partner, select Robinsons Supermarket branches will be the venue for official weigh-ins every Saturday. The weigh-in booth is in partnership with the Philippine Heart Association where besides the weight, wellness ambassadors will also read the blood pressure of participants. This will provide participants a more comprehensive analysis of their health condition.  Registration is free and will start on June 10 to December 5, 2017. 

“We want to make it easier for Filipinos to make healthier choices and supporting the FitFil Weight-loss challenge will allow us to engage with our customers to achieve a common goal.  One’s wellness journey can start with better choices with food and this usually starts in the supermarket.   They can look for the green shelf tagged items in Robinsons Supermarket for items that are evaluated healthy by the Food Nutrition and Research Institute (FNRI). We want wellness to be easy, accessible, affordable and fun for everyone, “ said Jody Gadia, General Manager of Robinsons Supermarket.

“Prevention is still the best policy to be in tip-top shape. That’s why together with Robinsons Supermarket, we are happy to support the Fit Fil Movement. We want to encourage everyone to join the challenge and start adopting the 52100 as part of their daily lifestyle,” confirmed by Dr. Raul Lapitan, President of the Philippine Heart Association (PHA).  52100 is PHA’s campaign to remind Filipinos to eat 5x daily; limit to 2 hours of screen time; commit to 1 hour of exercise and zero sugar intake and smoking.  

The challenge was officially launched last May 23 at Edsa Shangri-la. Various sectors were well represented and pledged their support.  The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) is also leading the challenge by pledging 100,000 lbs and a mandate to support the challenge. Other organizations that pledged support was the DOST- Food Nutrition & Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) at 30,000lbs; Philippine Heart Association and Diabetes Philippines at 2,500 each. The Philippine National Police was also present at the launch and pledged the biggest number to-date at 500,00lbs by the end of the program.
