Woolworths and Robinsons Supermarket Celebrate World Food Day by Helping Thrive Feed Hungry Schoolchildren

Donation program for the children at Thrive

MANILA, Philippines, September 29 - To coincide with World Food Day on October 16th, Robinsons Group and one of Australia’s largest retailers, Woolworths Group, announced their ongoing support of Thrive, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering healthy food to marginalized children in the developing world. With an in-store promotion for World Food Day, from October. 15 until November 15, for every 500 pesos spent on Woolworths products at select Robinsons Supermarket, The Marketplace, and Shopwise stores, two pesos will be donated to Thrive to support its feeding programs.

“We’re delighted to partner with Robinsons Retail’s supermarket group to support Thrive as they provide nutrition for children in some of the neediest areas of the Philippines, delivering 50% of a child’s daily nutritional needs. Thrive’s values align with Woolworths Group’s purpose - creating change for a better tomorrow. We are proud to be able to help feed underprivileged children in the Philippines with Thrive,” said Andrew Goudie, General Manager, Woolworths International Australia.

Thrive has been delivering meals to children at City Gates Antipolo school since 2020. Woolworths and Robinsons Retail’s supermarket group first worked with Thrive in early 2021. This partnership enabled Thrive to create monthly food packets for families equaling to more than 66,000 meals. Ongoing support from Woolworths and Robinsons allowed Thrive to expand its program from one to four City Gates schools and reach hundreds of children weekly.

“Having the support of Woolworths and Robinsons Retail Holdings Supermarket Segment is a game-changer for Thrive in the Philippines. With their generosity, we’ve already tripled our reach. The in-store promotions will help spread the word, and the loyal customers of Shopwise, The Marketplace, and Robinsons Supermarket will be able to help us feed even more children,” said Priscilla Heffelfinger, Executive Director and Co-founder of Thrive.

“We do our best to give back to the communities. We can do this by working with partners like Woolworths and Thrive, with whom we can share this endeavor. We are pleased to contribute to initiatives that make nutrition more accessible to children who need it the most,” said Stanley Co, Managing Director of Robinsons Retail Holdings Supermarket Segment.

ABOUT THRIVE

Founded in 2012, Thrive’s mission is to deliver healthy food to hungry children in the

poorest areas of the world. Thrive partners with schools and communities to bring meals

to more than 12,000 schoolchildren each week in Bangladesh and the Philippines.

These efforts help improve nutrition, boost school attendance, and increase learning readiness. Just $10 feeds a child a nutritious meal each school day for an entire month, and

each meal provides 50% of a child’s daily nutritional needs via seasonal fruits (including

Thrive’s signature banana), vegetables, and protein. In the past 10 years, Thrive and its

team of volunteers has delivered nearly three million nutritious meals. For more
